Tamera currington is vegan soul sistuhs
This is a beautiful story of a mother of 2 who, whilst sharing the journey she went through in finding food as an important part of her daughter’s treatment protocol, opens her heart and knowledge and became a source of inspiration. She opens the conversation of being Vegan-ish, Vegan-curious or being vegan and what it meant to her, which generated a following of up to 60,000 individuals! She is going to share with us the skills of how she did that and her passion about being Plant-Based. The main question people ask her is what are they going to eat? Tamera and Nicolette discus the history of food and diet for black and indigenous people and how meat was a flavouring not the main event and how people ate off the land. We need to now retrain the brain to get away from the social pressures and memories of unhealthy and processed food.
Vegan Soul Sistuh’s is a community for women of colour and a place to gather together and discus the ups and down and trials and tribulations of learning about food, diet, how food is medicine and being vegan. If you want a foundation, platform or home away from home where you can communicate with like-minded people about Vegan food, go check out her website.
“They didn’t have that much meat back then so it wasn’t the same, a meat would be a seasoning or flavouring, not one each”
