the STORY
As a fully plant-based restaurant, we wanted to offer our customers a delicious “cheesy” alternative to the regular moo-cheese out there. After struggling to find a wholesale product that aligned with our SOS-free way of preparing food - no sodium, oils, or sugar - we thought, why not just make one ourselves? We embarked on the journey of product development with Alex Coleman - Food Consultant and gifted Food Alchemist. Combining Alex’s experience with the plant-based cooking experience of Pierre Richer, our co-founder, a new, 100% organic, plant-based “cheese” line was born. Our “cheesy” spread comes in three different flavours: Lemon-Orange & Pepper, Herb & Garlic, and Olive & Garlic. On top of that, we’ve also created a line of 100% organic, plant-based chutney: Blueberry, Apricot & Herbs, and Cranberry.
the WHY
The Green Moustache has always been based on creating 100% organic, plant-strong, whole-food meals - with absolutely no dairy. While animal-based products present detriments to both human health and planetary health, dairy products pose their own startling health issues.
Harvard School of Public Health reported that on top of contributing significant amounts of saturated fat and cholesterol to your diet, increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and obesity, dairy has also been linked to various cancers.
By avoiding dairy products and eating a diet of 100% organic, plant-strong, whole-foods, humans have the power to reverse their chronic disease. It’s the Green Moustache’s mission to not only serve this food to its customers, but to spread the word on using Food as Medicine.
